Q*bert, produced by Gottlieb in 1982, is an isometric platformer with smooth, acrobatic action where a diminutive orange, round hero climbs the pyramid of cubes. Each quick jump colors a cube and retains it behind. Enemies are Coily, Ugg, and Slick. Making smartly falling blocks nudge aside obstructions and proceed with advancing screens takes timing and strategy.

The upright cabinet boasts chunky, spinning side art of Qbert standing on color-blocked cubes before a starry night. A spring-loaded diagonal joystick—no buttons—speaks of precise hops on a sharp control panel. A marquee in the top lights up with "Qbert" in block letters. A mono speaker gives off cheerful chirps and vintage arcade beeps.
