Fantastic new Syrah release from Carlisle, one of our favorite small producers!  Very limited - only 300 cases produced.

94+ Points Jeb Dunnuck: "An inky purple color, the 2022 Syrah Papa's Block is expressive with notes of blackberry compote, candied lavender, sappy herbs and forest earth. Full-bodied, its fleshy, ripe structure builds a touch on the palate, with broader shoulders and a savory and well-managed finish. It’s going to need some time in cellar to show its best. Drink 2025-2040."

previous vintage 94 Points Robert Parker: "Made up of 100% Syrah, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Syrah Papa's Block comes bounding out of the glass with gregarious crushed blackcurrants and black plums with touches of dried herbs, black pepper, aniseed and tilled soil plus a waft of underbrush. Full-bodied with a firm backbone of grainy tannins and a lively line supporting the generous fruit, it has a very long, savory finish. 561 cases produced...a great success story, Mike Officer’s Carlisle Winery continues to not only protect heritage old-vine sites in Northern California, but to also turn out a bevy of realistically priced, delicious, consumer-friendly wines, primarily from Zinfandel, although Officer can also turn a trick or two with Grenache, Petite Sirah and Syrah."
