Formed mainly by members of early Zem and recorded by the maverick genius Kim Foley, this killer album was released only in Sweden at the time! Belfast Gypsies was formed by brothers Pat and Jackie Macauley, who were members of the early Zem band. Jackie's Van Morrison-like vocals, intense harmonica playing, and powerful drumming and bass explode in a wild performance that was miraculously recorded by the wunderkind Kim Foley. However, the band never found success in either the UK or Ireland, and they were only active as The Other Zem for about six months, dragging out the confusion over the use of the name Zem. Overseas, the band would break up after only four months under the Zem name, mainly in Denmark and Sweden. Belfast Gypsies was the name the label had given the band. In August 1967, eight months after the breakup, we present to you a killer album released only in Sweden. ~From the commentary by Masuko Jimmy
