German composer Hans Werner Henze began composing at the age of 12 and was considered one of the most talented young composers along with Stockhausen after his highly acclaimed "Symphony No. 1" was published in 1947. However, he felt uncomfortable with the use of the dodecatonic technique and gradually began to break away from it, writing works that were atonal but still used classical melodies and rhythms. In this album, the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra and Orsop give a meticulous performance of Henze's works from this period. The "Nocturnes and Arias" on the album were written when Henze left Germany and settled in Italy, where he gave up the avant-garde style he had adopted in Darmstadt and used late Romantic harmony and melody. Juliane Banse, who sings solo, is a soprano who also specializes in contemporary works. Her deep resonant voice enhances the work. Inspired by Francis de Goya's work of the same name, "Los Caprichos" from 1963 is called "Fantasias for Orchestra," and each of the nine pieces has its own title. Each of the nine pieces has its own title, and each is filled with impressive melodies and percussion.Originally, "English Love Songs" consisted of seven songs, but Henze later deleted the fifth song to make it what it is today. Although it is a song, the star of the show is the solo cello. Narek Ahnazaryan, who plays here, is the winner of the 14th International Tchaikovsky Competition in 2011.
