A luxury box set for all tenor lovers! In the 1920s and 30s, the era of talkie films began, and great tenors such as Benyamino Zilli, Richard Tauber, and Lauritz Melchior became movie stars. With them, numerous "singer films" were made, as well as documentaries and private films of their singing. By reprinting many of these rare materials, a series of 13 documentaries was produced in 1996, ranging from Enrico Caruso to Jussi Björling. This "Bel Canto" boxed set is a reissue of that series, as well as a number of extras. One of these extras is the accompanying booklet, which contains a deeply enlightening and extensive discussion of bel canto singing.
