Sebastian Weigle, Frankfurt Opera Orchestra
Description:
Weigle and the Frankfurt Opera Orchestra present the sixth collection of Richard Strauss's orchestral works, ending a series that began in 2013 with "Zarathustra," based on Nietzsche, and "Don Quixote," in which the cello plays a major role. Weigle performed Strauss works in 2016 with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, which has decided to appoint him as permanent conductor. Weigle's performance of "Tsara" and "Don Quixote" is so intoxicating that it was one of the deciding factors in his appointment. The cello in "Don Quixote" is played by Isan Enders, a Korean-German cellist born in 1988. He was appointed principal cellist of the Staatskapelle Dresden at the age of just 20, and since leaving the Staatskapelle, he has performed around the world, including a visit to Japan in 2016, where he won acclaim for his performance of J.S. Bach's "Suite for Unaccompanied Cello" in its entirety. His expressive playing reflects the dreaminess and reality of Don Quixote. Naxos Japan
