The new production of "Rigoletto" will open the season in September 2021 at the Covent Garden, and will feature a new cast of Oliver Mears, including Lisette Oropesa as the innocent Gilda, Carlos Alvarez, a veteran singer who beautifully expresses the emotional folds of Rigoletto, and Liparit Avetisyan, a rising tenor who sings the Duke of Mantova with a beautiful, firm voice and a clean expression. The new production by Oliver Mears, with the help of the cast, attempts to visualize the psychological drama of love and hate hidden in the work by using images evoked by important paintings in the history of Western art in various places on the stage.
