ABOUT THE COLLECTION
HUNT COUNTRY OILS
Lydia's first fell in love with oils as a student painting master copies of Willard Metcalf and John Singer Sargent. This is Lydia's first debut of oil work as a part of her professional portfolio. This extra large scene depicts the gracious landscape of the region and landscape surrounding Lydia's childhood home in Loudoun County. This piece particularly showcases the familiar gates of Oatlands in Leesburg. This is the third time Lydia has painted this view, the second time in oil. This setting continues to be one for the philosophical elements of her work to converge.
These pieces are sold exclusively as originals and will not be reproduced.
It's truly a one of a kind.
"A man's physical hunger does not prove that he will get any bread; he may die of starvation on a raft in the Atlantic. But surely a man's hunger does prove that he comes from a race which repairs its body by eating and inhabits a world where eatable substances exist. In the same way...my desire for Paradise (does not) prove that I shall enjoy it, I think it a pretty good indication that such a thing exists and that some men will." -Lewis
