Description:

Holliger's lovingly crafted homage to Schumann. Heinz Holliger, one of the most versatile musicians of our time, presents a tribute to Robert Schumann, a composer he has had a deep lifelong love for, with one of his own works added. His own Romancendresse was inspired by a work titled "Romance" written by Robert Schumann after he learned of the love affair between Clara Schumann and Brahms. Robert Schumann's "Romance" was burned by Clara after Robert's death and became a phantom work, and Roesinger and Kernyak, who played together as an ensemble when Holliger visited Japan in 2012, are again presenting a lustrous performance on this disc. ＜Anita Luzinger was born in 1982 near Zurich, and studied with Gerge Kurtág, Miklós Perenyi, and Steven Isserlós. Since then, he has been active internationally and has been invited by many orchestras, including the Tonhalle Zurich conducted by David Zinman, and regularly performs with Holliger and Kerniak. ＜Anton Kerniak was born in 1982 to an Austrian family of Slovenian descent and studied at the Mozarteum Conservatory in Salzburg.She then studied with Rudolf Buchbinder at the Basel Conservatory. Influenced by Hungarian musicians Ferenc Rados and Gerges Kurtág, he won the first prize at the International Brahms Piano Competition and many other awards. Since then, he has performed chamber music throughout Europe, Canada, and the United States. He has been invited to many music festivals including the Lucerne Music Festival. He regularly performs chamber music with Anita Luzinger and Heitz Holliger. Universal Music/IMS
