It took our designers over ten years and several false starts to finally perfect the Rapala Minnow Spoon. the criteria for such a lure are specific and demanding. The lure must be designed to cast long and accurately. It must be weedless and yet hook striking fish perfectly. The swimming action must be lifelike in both slow and faster retrieve. The lure must swim well on heavy line, which is usually used in heavy cover. The action must continue to work well with the addition of pork or a teaser. The lure must swim on the drop to enable it to catch fish in pockets, edges of weedbeds and around stick-ups. The finish must be bright yet durable and the hooks have to be sharp. Is it any wonder it took over ten years to design? You have to keep doing things over and over until you get them right. Incidentally, the treble hook models are bit as good as the weedless.
