Nixon's lead in the polls started to wither away like a wilting flower.

Rumor has it that if they held the election just a week later in November, the Vice President might have been the one taking the big seat. Now, we can't say for sure what would've gone down, but what we do know is this: it was one of the wildest, most pivotal moments in American political history.
