Mad Barn’s bulk Jiaogulan powder (Gynostemma Pentaphyllum) is used to support healthy circulation, respiration and joints in horses and ponies.

The Jiaogulan vine has a long history of use in Traditional Chinese Medicine where it is believed to enhance vitality, energy, stress relief and performance. Research shows that it exhibits antioxidant and anti-inflammatory propertiesand can support respiratory function.

In horses, Jiaogulan is commonly used for its ability to increase nitric oxide production in blood vessel cells (vascular endothelium). It acts as a vasodilator, increasing blood flow throughout the body.

This has potential benefits for laminitic horses, helping to promote repair of the hoof. It is sometimes used in combination with AAKG (Arginine-alpha-ketoglutarate) to improve hoof health in cold weather conditions or due to damaged AVA (Arteriovenous anastomoses) shunts.
