Mirage, a super band formed by the leading members of the Canterbury music band Caravan and the melodic progressive rock band Camel, disappeared without making a studio album after only two years of activity. Peter Bardens and Andy Ward, who had been looking for a new direction after leaving Camel, were introduced by Dave Sinclair of Caravan, who had also left Camel, to Pai Hastings and Jimmy Hastings, the core members of Caravan, as well as musicians from Canterbury Music, to form the band. The band was formed by Pai Hastings and Jimmy Hastings, both core members of Caravan, along with musicians from the Canterbury music scene. The band played a limited five-performance tour of the UK-Europe to explore the band's potential before making a studio album, but stopped as soon as the tour was over. The band continued as Peter Bardens' band.
