The waling-waling is the queen of Philippine orchids. It blooms between August and September and can be seen as an iconic centerpiece during the Kadayawan festival in Davao City.

Tarictic hornbills are a small, primarily fruit-eating species of hornbills endemic to the forests of the Philippines. Subspecies of the tarictic hornbill can be found in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
