Fabulous Bob Mackie long sheath dress and fully embellished in iridescent midnight blue sequins and bugle beads. Circa early 1990s, the neckline is high and the collar and bodice is extremely detailed with a mesh panel giving the illusion of a deep plunge. The full length sleeves have also been left unlined so you see glimpses of skin through the beadwork there as well as they taper down to the wrist. A classic sheath shape, the waist is brought in but there is no horizontal seam to break the lines of the scrolling bodice design. The back has a deep v but enough to cover a bra and closes with a central zipper. The dress has a high front slit and is fully lined from the deep plunge in a semi sheer, black silk crepe.

These dresses were fabulously costly in their day and always hand beaded by the most skilled artisans onto signature black silk mesh. Tagged a vintage US 6, this is fairly true to size with very slight stretch and equates to a UK 10. Our model (5ft 11in / 180cm) is a UK 8-10 and this fit her well.
