The Prima APBX 8 AS2 active subwoofer, featuring an 8-inch driver, is equipped with a dedicated high-performance amplification module that enhances all the technologies found in the passive enclosure, such as the 2S² design (2 Sides / 2 Sounds), Plug & Play terminal block, and ultra-compact dimensions.

The amplifier module delivers 250 W RMS and is developed with he-li (High-Efficiency / Low Impedance) technology. Thanks to the absence of a DC-DC voltage booster, it achieves an impressive 90% efficiency—close to the theoretical maximum of Class D amplifiers.

The new DBT (Dynamic Bass Tracking) input stage allows the he-li amplifier to operate at full power, delivering tight and dynamic bass even at very high listening volumes. The removal of the voltage booster is made possible by the development of new dual voice coil speakers. These speakers inherit the advanced engineering of the Prima subwoofer line but stand out thanks to their ultra-low impedance, creating perfect synergy with the he-li technology. This maximizes the performance of the amplifier, speaker, and sealed enclosure to produce clean, powerful low frequencies.

The control section is comprehensive, offering optimal tuning of low-frequency output inside the vehicle cabin. The 12 dB/Oct. Butterworth low-pass filter with a variable cutoff frequency (50–200 Hz) can be bypassed when used with an AP bit processor with a dedicated subwoofer pre-out. The adjustable bass boost control (0 to +6 dB) at 45 Hz allows users to enhance the lower end of the frequency spectrum.

A high-level input via multipolar connector ensures easy integration with factory audio systems, while the RCA low-level input is ideal for aftermarket head units. The ART (Automatic Remote Turn-On) function allows automatic on/off switching of the subwoofer based on the remote signal, voltage changes on the high-level input, or audio signal presence on either input.

Phase control (0–180°) is also included. The SSP (Sub Smart Plug) terminal block features a single Plug & Play connector, allowing for easy and secure disconnection of the enclosure.
