About the book:
A proper Thomasian celebration of a historic Thomasian achievement—the 150th anniversary of the country's first school of medicine—should be based on this wonderful Thomasian practice of linking teaching and medicine, the magister and the medicus, together. The UST FMS 150 Commemorative Book, "Honora Medicum: 150 Years of the UST Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, the First School of Medicine in the Philippines," seeks to do just that. It is meant to celebrate the mother of all medical schools in the country, to pay tribute to the 50,000 UST doctors and their extraordinary impact on society, to honor the generations of doctor-teachers all the way to the first generation in 1871, to move and inspire a new generation of Thomasian students, and to stake UST's claim to the next 150 years of medical education. Designed, edited, and published to the highest international standards, "Honora Medicum" consists of four chapters, conceptualized and titled according to key phrases in the motto memorialized on the UST FMS building.
