An Embarrassment of Riches is a metafictional novel set on a fictional Philippine island in the 1990s, following self-exiled American businessman Jeffrey Kennedy Tantivo who is called home to manage a presidential campaign for the country's wealthiest heiress. Charlson Ong uses innovative narrative techniques to present a distinctly Southeast Asian perspective on power, wealth, and political ambition. The novel won Second Place in the Philippine Centennial Literary Prize.
