This classic 1d green stamp from Nyasaland (Malawi) features a striking dual portrait design: an engraved vignette of a King’s African Rifles askari in traditional fez and military uniform, alongside an oval portrait of King George VI. Issued during the late 1930s–1940s colonial period, it reflects both imperial iconography and the proud local regiment that played a major role in East African military history. Finely engraved and rich in detail, this issue remains one of the most popular KGVI-era Nyasaland definitives. A desirable addition for collectors of British colonial Africa, military-themed philately, or KGVI portrait series.
