Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) is a slow-growing, evergreen tropical tree, highly prized for its delicious purple fruit known as the “Queen of Fruits.” The tree has dark green, leathery leaves and produces small, reddish flowers that give way to round fruits with thick purple rinds. Inside, the fruit contains soft, juicy white segments with a sweet, slightly tart flavor.
