Anna-Lisa Thomson (1905-1952)

Anna-Lisa Thomson was a Swedish painter and ceramist. She trained at Konstfack, the university of arts, crafts and design in Stockholm, as well as abroad. From 1928–33 she worked at St:Erik's pottery factory where she became the artistic director in the 1930's.

In 1933 Thomson began working at Upsala Ekeby, alongside Sven Erik Skawonius and Vicke Lindstrand among others. She created several classic series such as the iconic Paprika, Athene, and Marina. Her production ranged from small figurines to large floor vases, all with a simplicity in design and motifs inspired by nature. Much of her inspiration came from her summerhouse on the west coast of Sweden.

Tomson 's ceramic was internationally acclaimed and received awards in Paris 1937 and New York 1939.
