My belief in the importance of creative play just grows and grows--young and old, we need it, and benefit from it, and playing around with blocks sets like this brings me at least a lot of pleasure and satisfaction! This complete antique set of "The Walnut Blocks" is a great set for building with, with the heavy, perfectly square edged blocks allowing for constructing very tall towers! A nice compact set too, fitting into their box, three layers deep, just so (itself a good exercise in problem solving.) And of course classic blocks like this are always handy for constructing tabletop stages and pedestals for other little things! C. 1880s I believe. 

Box (full): 8 11/16 x 6 1/4 x 3” t. Complete set, as documented, box is filled tight three layers deep. Slide lid to the box (which shows "Walnut Blocks" paper label on one side) is gone, with a small loss to one end of the lip of the box where the lid would have glided in. A couple of the small arched triangle blocks show losses to the end edges, as documented. Otherwise blocks are in very good condition.
