Kerouac's On the Road represented the Beat Generation - non-conformity and the search for meaningful personal experiences. Our series of button-down oxfords are named after two characters in the book - Sal and Dean - and their adventures.

This Sal shirt is cut from a light blue oxford cotton fabric The collar is the perfect height for a button-down - not too tall and floppy, and not too fashion-forward small. It’s gone through a special wash that leaves the garment feeling soft and comfortable. The cuffs are rounded and convertible, there are side gussets, and a single breast pocket.

Fabric

Egyptian cotton is a particular variety that is grown in only a few other places. It is renowned as some of the best in the world. It has an extra long staple, which means it has longer fibers, resulting in a silkier, more durable fabric. The traditional oxford is a type of basket weave where multiple weft threads are crossed over an equal number of warp threads. The threads are usually of a single color crossed with a white to give oxford its unique, checkerboard appearance. It's a versatile that can be worn casually or professionally depending on the thread count and finish.
