He is dedicated to the discovery and performance of unknown works from the Baroque period. Of the two Handel works on this album, the "John Passion," premiered in 1704, was published anonymously by the composer; a detailed review by Mattheson, who published a work using the same poem in 1723, also states, "This work evokes a mature Handel.
