Roter Hang is the name designating the wine-growing area located in Rheinhessen, between the towns of Nierstein and Nackenheim near Frankfurt. This region is characterized by the red color of its hillside, due to the sedimentation of iron residues.

This terroir with exceptional typicity, thanks to the combination of a soil made of clay and sandstone, and a continental climate, produces unique Riesling type grape varieties designed for long aging.
